The Sage Restaurant offers the Deakin community a space where people are able to meet, debrief and eat in an environment which is relaxed, stylish, and welcoming. The Sage Restaurant was established in 2011 and since this time we have gained a great reputation as an excellent place to relax while enjoying fantastic modern food with a great ambience. The Sage Restaurant is a jewel in the hub of the Central Precinct in which to relax and get a great modern meal or an excellent coffee and cake.

The Sage Restaurant has alfresco dining on the breezeway which overlooks the tree-tops of the nearby creek. It is set up with access to the external servery where customers can obtain quick service from the barista for take away coffee and view displays of fresh cakes and gourmet baguettes and quiche etc. The slatted windows offer a lovely breeze and outlook to the green aspects of the university grounds.
Inside the restaurant we seat around 80 people. The walls of The Sage are adorned with modern Australian prints and paintings courtesy of the Deakin University Gallery.
The adjoining Richard Searby Room is a spacious area with a beautiful vista into the surrounding treetops in which to hold meetings, awards presentations, conferences and functions.
As the university is a closed market, we understand that we must always ensure that our customers leave with a positive dining experience every time.

Have created a dynamic menu which changes every trimester keeping the food seasonal and interesting for our regular and valued clientele. The seasonality of our menus also results in maintaining a 'low food mile' ethos as a practical and economic attribute to our menus.
The food is priced reasonably to suit the university market. It is fresh – all made on premises using local and seasonal produce. We ensure excellent quality, value and presentation.
We are able to meet the needs of our customer's diverse dietary and cultural requirements essential for the multi-cultural nature of Deakin University by offering choices such as halal, gluten free, vegetarian and specially made meals for those customers with allergies).
